Tucked away between the rolling hills of the Ozarks near Salem, Missouri is Bo’s Hollow. A visit to this little hillbilly town is a great way to learn about the history of rural Missouri.

Life in the Ozarks was much different before paved roads, indoor plumbing, and reliable electricity. At Bo’s you can truly get a sense of how many Missourians used to live.

Don’t forget to stop and say hello to the goats as well! Both the goats and the donkeys are raised at Bo’s in the on-site stables.

Before heading home you’ll want to take a ride in the Model A Ford. You’ll love riding through the countryside in these historic vehicles. It’s $5 for the ride and the trip lasts about 30 minutes. You can also grab lunch from Granny’s BBQ while you’re in Bo’s Hollow for $5.

There are few places left in the state like Bo’s Hollow. Opening day for Model A rides and picnics is May 3rd, but you’re welcome to visit any day. Round up your family, and take the back roads to spend a peaceful day in the hollow.
