The Carousel in City Park has a truly fascinating history.

The animals were carved and hand painted by Charles Loof and Charles Carmel, and they get so much use they are repainted by hand every year or so. The carousel is only one of 100 hand-carved carousels remaining in the United States, and it’s the only one of its kind in Louisiana.

Storyland is another popular attraction that kids are mesmerized by.

City Park New Orleans/Facebook Built in the 50s, Storyland is made up of about 25 larger than life sculptures featuring your favorite classic fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters. Your kids eyes will light up when they get to play on Cinderella’s magical pumpkin carriage, or Captain Hook’s pirate ship.

You can also hop aboard a train that’ll take you the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.

These amazing sculptures are nestled along wandering footpaths, water features, and those notorious ancient oak trees. After you’ve strolled through the garden, be sure to check out the New Orleans Museum of Art, which houses more than 40,000 pieces from French and American art, Japanese works, photography, and glass.

In the springtime, the tulips over at Big Lake are simply breathtaking.
