They’re pretty, fragile, and have a surprising propensity for commuting long distances. In southern Arizona, butterflies are a constant presence, fluttering from flower to flower even in the middle of the desert’s winter season. And, you have to admit, nothing feels quite as magical as a group of butterflies flying past you on a sunny day.
If you want to experience that magical feeling a little more often, then we have just the place for you to visit!
This is Butterfly Wonderland, a unique attraction in Scottsdale dedicated to everyone’s favorite colorful insect: the butterfly.

It is home to more than 3,000 butterflies from all over the world. You’ll find these creatures fluttering through the glass rainforest atrium, a warm, humid environment with plenty of trees, bushes, and flowers for the butterflies to enjoy.

Before entering the atrium, you’ll walk through the gallery. Here, you’ll find dozens (or, perhaps, hundreds) of butterflies and moths slowly growing in their respective chrysalides and cocoons. Once they hatch, the little creatures are released into the atrium.

In between flights to and from flowers, you’ll also find the butterflies snacking on fruit in dishes spread around the atrium.
