Hale Center Theatre has been entertaining Utah families since 1985. From its first humble theater-in-the-round to its newest venue with state-of-the-art set designs, the name “Hale” has always meant quality, family-friendly productions. The brand new theater in Sandy recently opened, and you’re going to want tickets.

With so much local support for theater productions in Utah, Hale Center Theatre’s West Valley City location was constantly sold out. The company wanted to be able to make its productions available to everyone who wanted to attend, so it scouted out a new location for a bigger theater in Sandy.

The new 130,000 square foot building cost nearly $80 million to construct, and includes two theaters: the Centre Theatre and the Sorenson Legacy Jewel Box Theatre.

The Centre Theatre seats up to 900 patrons, and offers more legroom than the previous West Valley location.

The comfortable seating is nothing compared to the stage, however. This feat of theatrical engineering has more than 120 motors that make the 24-foot circular stage able to split into three different movable pieces, which can raise, lower and disappear throughout a production.

The opening show at the Centre Theatre is Aida. This jaw-dropping production including the same incredible singing, dancing and acting that you’re accustomed to - with plenty of aerial acrobatics to boot.
