Have you been craving tacos lately, but don’t want to visit the same old taco joint every time? We’ve found a cool place in eastern Kansas that’s sure to bring a smile to your face. Today, we’re headed to a town in Kansas that’s embraced one of the best movies ever made, The Wizard of Oz. Even if we don’t care for the jokes you get outside of the state, this themed restaurant is one we all should visit at least once.

In a city called Wamego, it might be easy to confuse part of it with the Emerald City we know from everyone’s favorite Kansas movie.

Toto’s Tacoz Facebook Of course, that’s the Oz museum, with plenty of information about the theatre production, movie, and novels of the world of Oz. But, did you know what’s hiding in plain sight?

Right nearby is this amazing Mexican restaurant named Toto’s Tacoz, a homage to the theme of Oz that plenty of places in Wamego have taken on.

Toto’s Tacoz Facebook Though they aren’t served by a terrier, these tacos are sure to keep you coming back to Wamego every time you want to follow the yellow brick road.

Once you step inside, you’re greeted to the sight of rainbow umbrellas, character cutouts, and plenty of Oz-themed decor.

Kansas Tourism/Flickr It’s not out of the question to meet someone in costume, either. Many tourists express their love for the movie here at Toto’s, whether it’s in the form of a tattoo or a full-on ensemble. However, most of the visitors here are here for the tacos and the museum.

Even part of the menu is themed!

Rob M/TripAdvisor Items named after iconic characters and places make these Mexican style dishes a little more magical. All the more reason to bring your family here with you!

Of course, make sure you stop and check out the decor.

Traveler672/TripAdvisor You never know what you’ll find at Toto’s, whether it’s Toto-ly awesome hot sauce or a warning for every witch that might be underneath a falling house. Rest assured, there won’t be any poppy fields here, however.

As for the tacos, each one of them is delicious, whether you order a regular Toto’s or shrimp.

Toto’s Tacoz Facebook They make fresh guacamole and salsa every day, but my favorite item on the menu has to be their Yellow Brick burritos.

Toto’s is open from Tuesday through Saturday, from 11am to 5pm.

Osmilller1/TripAdvisor Make sure you keep them on your Kansas bucket list to try next time you’re in the area. Who knows, maybe these tacos will send you to a magical world of whimsy? Without the evil witches, of course.

You’ll find all the best tacos in town (and more) at 515 Lincoln Avenue in Wamego, Kansas. It sits right between Topeka and Junction City, but feel free to use the map below to help you find your way along the yellow brick road. Happy trails!
