People come from all over the world to ski in the Cowboy State, but they typically go to the well-known resorts like Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee. Those are terrific places, but they’re not necessarily where Wyoming skis.

When we want to hit the slopes, we do it at an out-of-the-way hill in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Pristine and stunningly beautiful, it’s an exhilarating spot for everyone from beginners to experts to enjoy a day skiing. This ski area is pretty low-key, too, just the type of place you thought didn’t exist anymore.

The Snowy Range Ski Area is less than an hour’s drive from Laramie.
