Maine is known for a lot of things including lobster, blueberries, a very special Zumba teacher and an “Ebola nurse.” But, did you know that Vacationland played a role in the longest hijacking ever recorded in the US? This story involves alcohol, an Italian heartthrob and a tiny Maine airport that didn’t know what it was in for! Here is, what just might be, the strangest thing to ever happen in Maine!

He landed in Roame, then hid in a small town in Italy before being captured, though the country didn’t extradite him back to the US. Instead they tried him on small charges and he spent just 18 months in prison.
