Louisiana has so many beautiful trails to explore, it’s nearly impossible to hike them all (but wouldn’t that be a great bucket list idea?) Each one offers unique glimpses at our lovely landscape, it’s hard to choose a favorite. If you’re looking to get outdoors and explore but maybe just something short and sweet, then this is the perfect trail for you.
The Barataria Preserve is a wonderful way to experience Louisiana’s natural landscape on foot.

The preserve’s 23,000 acres include bayous, marshes, swamps, forests, and tons of wildlife.

There are several trails you can explore, and most of them connect to each other, so you can mix and match.

The Visitor Center Trail is a great place to start.

There’s seating around the bald cypress area, and you’ll be surrounded by freshwater marsh.

As you stroll through the trail, keep your eyes peeled for alligators, turtles, and snakes.
