Covered bridges and Vermont scenery go hand in hand. While spotting these bridges isn’t rare, a covered bridge that once carried a train through certainly is! There are very few left standing in the US, and the Fisher Covered Railroad Bridge in Wolcot is a fine specimen to behold. While there isn’t a much of a trail that takes you to this historic and now abandoned train tunnel in VT, there are plenty of places to explore both on and around the area. So, lace up those hiking boots and let’s take a look at this fine bridge which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Fisher Covered Bridge is now closed, but it was the last covered bridge to carry railroad traffic in Vermont.
