There are so many enchanting places in New Jersey and over the years I’ve covered many of my favorites but there’s one that hasn’t been in the spotlight…yet. Head to 9th Street between North Bay and North Delaware Avenues and you’re in for a delightful treat. This strip of street has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind shopping village.
Bay Village is a shopping center spread across several blocks on Long Beach Island.

The charming wood-sided and shingled buildings are meant to transport you into the past.

Built in 1965, it was designed as a replica of a 19th century waterfront village.

But it’s not just the architecture and weathered wood that contribute to the old-fashioned theme.

They make the creamiest, most mouthwatering fudge using copper kettles. The kettles help the fudge cool slowly and evenly before it is hand-whipped.

Just across the way (also on 9th street and keeping with the 19th century waterfront village theme) is Schooner’s Wharf.

While this area covers multiple addresses, you’ll find it by putting 830 N Bay Avenue, Beach Haven into your GPS. If you’re looking for another charming spot for holiday shopping or summer browsing, check out Viking Village.
