Just outside of Las Vegas in Overton sits the majestic Valley of Fire State Park. This geologic wonder is a jaw-dropping collection of stunning colors and unique rock formations. In addition to the more well-known formations like Elephant Rock and the Fire Wave, an unmarked canyon that radiates soft hues of pink—as well as orange, white, and yellow—provides a pastel respite from the vibrant reds throughout the rest of the park. The Valley of Fire State Park sits about an hour northeast of Las Vegas in Overton.

This stunning, 40,000-acre park is known for its sculpted bright red, Jurassic-era sandstone and myriad abstract shapes nestled in tan and gray limestone mountains.

Established in 1935 by the Nevada State Legislature, this area has been occupied by man as long as 2,500 years ago as evidenced by the many petroglyphs decorating the rocks.

The canyon hike is relatively short and easy. While some areas may make for tight passage, it is completely passable. Just keep an eye out for puddles if you visit after it has rained.
