For a glimpse into the past, you can visit a tiny historical village in St. Charles County and learn about day-to-day life for Missouri’s early settlers. This little village has been almost untouched by time and is one of the most unique and beautiful spots in the Show Me State.
America’s most famous pioneer is also one of Missouri’s most famous residents. Daniel Boone settled in Missouri in 1799 while the area was still under Spanish control.

The Boone home is now a part of the Historic Daniel Boone Home at Lindenwood Park in Defiance. This stunning four story Georgian style mansion actually belonged to Daniel’s youngest son Nathan.

The church, Old Peace Chapel, was originally a general store and dance hall from New Melle. By the early 1900’s the building was converted in to a church, which was moved to the Daniel Boone Home site in 1983.

Today, brides can reserve the church for their nuptials. There is also a special candle lit Christmas service held every year.

This historic village is truly a unique experience that can be enjoyed by your whole family. There is no admission to visit the grounds but guided tours are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children.
