Over the last handful of years, airlines have been making a greater effort to rid their flights of any unnecessary weight. Switching the paper they use for their in-flight magazine Hemispheres, the new issues of the magazine are now one ounce lighter than they were. The decrease in weight of the magazine has proven to be a benefit for United Airlines, helping them save an estimated 170,000 gallons of fuel and $290,000 dollars worth of savings per year.
