This 30-acre property once belonged to well-known horticulturist Eddie Aldridge and his wife, Kay. In 1994, the Aldridges transferred the property to the city of Hoover to be used as a public garden.

Aldridge Gardens features a variety of gorgeous hydrangeas, including the Snowflake Hydrangea. This special hydrangea was discovered by Mr. Aldridge and his father in 1969. In 1971, they patented it. The Snowflake Hydrangea is Hoover’s official flower.
