Being the 32nd state to join the United States, Minnesota may seem like it doesn’t have a whole lot of history. After all, many of the states had been officially part of the U.S. for decades before Minnesota’s statehood was official. But the Land of 10,000 Lakes does have a few claims to historical fame. One of the most interesting? It is home to the oldest basilica in America. You can still visit it today.

The Basilica of Saint Mary holds many events, too. It has been the site of the Basilica Block Party since 1995. Concerts and other events also occur throughout the year.
