The bar started as a place to serve Hamm’s, a beer that was first created in St. Paul. It’s still on tap at Neumann’s to this day.

As you might imagine, the bar has seen some interesting times. It even survived Prohibition. The downstairs bar served near-beer, while a speakeasy thrived upstairs.

When Prohibition finally ended in 1933, the bar kept at it. It saw through the entire 20th century, from WWII to the New Millennium - and beyond.
