With an author resident who writes the creepiest books on the planet, it should come as no surprise that we’ve got our fair share of hauntings to talk about. From abandoned mills to the ghosts of lighthouse keepers of the past, a lot of our state ghost stories even have a Maine flair to them! But, there’s one less talked about haunting that still confuses us. Today, we’re heading to University of Southern Maine to talk about the Robie-Andrews dorm. This creepy ghost story from Maine just might baffle you, too!

The University of Southern Maine campus in Gorham is typically a regular, bustling college campus.

But, things get a little more creepy when it comes to the most haunted dorm. The stories of this place might just change your perception of that “regular, bustling college campus.”

The Robie-Andrews dorm was built in the 1800s, making it the oldest building on the Gorham campus.

During that time, there have been lots of different stories told, including tales of suicide and murder.

There’s one story that includes a girl hanging herself in the tower after learning she was pregnant.

She pondered and thought about it in the woods nearby, and returned to end things when she felt there were no other options.

But, the truly baffling story is of the woman who came tumbling out of her own dorm room window.

The story is a mystery as most people only recall seeing her land. There’s no recollection of if she fell, jumped on purpose or was pushed.

There was no note and all we know today is that she still has not found peace.

In fact, dorm residents have told stories of phantom noises and feeling cold areas. Others have reported seeing a woman in the tower. Reasonably possible until you remember that the tower has been closed off and inaccessible for many, many years.

Most of the Gorham campus remains lovely and idyllic, but the mystery of the Robie-Andrews dormitory continues.
