Are you a believer in the paranormal? There are dozens of plantations, hotels, bars, and buildings peppered throughout Louisiana where things happen that just can’t be rationally explained. There’s one particular plantation near Natchitoches that has had so many spiritual encounters, it has attracted the attention of several paranormal investigators who have gone in and come away with some seriously spooky experiences.
Magnolia Plantation was established in 1835 by Ambrose LeComte II and his wife Julia.

The main house was rebuilt in the 1890s and that is the building that stands today.

Like so many historic buildings and plantations in Louisiana, there are reports that the plantation is haunted.

The Ghost Adventures Crew from the Travel Channel even came to investigate about six years ago. They heard disembodied voices, footsteps, eerie knocking, and one of the members even saw a ghostly apparition.
Many believe the activity is largely due to the many years of voodoo that was practiced by the slaves that lived and worked on the plantation.

One of the rooms in the main room was nicknamed “the dying room” because many of the residents went in that room when they didn’t want to live anymore.
Wikimedia There’s one story that a Union Major died in that room after being poisoned by Confederate soldiers. People who have slept in that room have claimed to have seen the Major’s face in one of the windows of that room.
Reports of footsteps when no one around, doors open and closing on their own, voices and chanting are just some of the spooky things that have been reported.
