You might have heard that the SEE Science Center in Manchester is a great place to take kids – especially if you want to give them a chance to learn more about the world around them. But you may not realize that it’s also home to one of the most stunning LEGO displays in the world. If your family enjoys playing with these little bricks, they’ll absolutely adore a visit!
SEE Science Center is a fantastic interactive museum that’s fun – and educational - for all ages.

The real highlight of the museum, though, is the LEGO Millyard Project, which is the largest permanent installation of LEGOs at the minifigure scale anywhere in the world!

The display shows Manchester’s Amoskeag Millyard as it looked at the beginning of the 20th century. The real mill complex was a mile by a half mile, and the model replicates much of the mill complex as well as parts of Manchester.

The display includes more than three million LEGO bricks, and is built to match the scale of the people that come in LEGO kits (the display includes 8,000 of them!). It took about ten thousand hours of labor to create the display.

There are cutaways to give you an up close and personal look inside the mill.

You’ll even find a model of the wooden roller coaster that stood at Pine Island Park during the early part of the 20th century, when the mill was running at full capacity.

Of course, there’s plenty of other things to explore at SEE once you’ve admired every nook and cranny of the LEGO display.
