Severe winter storms on the horizon mean some travelers may face long delays, cancelations and difficult driving conditions this Thanksgiving.

A large storm seems set to strike the Midwestern and Eastern portions of the country this weekend. The storm has the potential to last into next week, meaning that even last-minute travelers may face rain, heavy winds and snow. Strong thunderstorms are also expected across the South during the holiday period.

Although it’s still too early to say with certainty that this storm will develop, AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Evan Duffey has stated that “at least some travel delays can be expected across the Northeast from heavy rain, snow and some rather strong winds.”
