Have you ever explored anywhere ‘haunted’ in our state? Kansas is home to a good share of the country’s haunted stories. Of course, most of them have no proof, but the ghost story of this woman in Topeka is based on a real person. Those stories hold a little more water, which means they’re just a little more creepy than your average campfire tale. The white woman figure that walks in a Topeka cemetery happens to be a real person who died and became legend.

Stephanie Elliott/Flickr One of Topeka’s most popular ghost stories involves an albino woman who lived there for years. Before her death in 1963, the Albino Woman liked to wander Topeka at night, or glare at children boarding school buses, according to neighbors. Of course, shortly after her death, the stories began popping up, including sightings of her ghostly figure walking around North Topeka, specifically in Rochester Cemetery.

GoogleMaps Employees of a nearby tire factory witnessed her figure on multiple occasions, and some of her neighbors claimed they saw her at least once a week. One person’s house in particular seemed to be the focus of her attention, and it began walking closer and closer to the man’s house and pausing. Eventually, it paused for a long while and watched through the window as his children slept. It eventually left them alone. Spooky!
