This one is a hidden gem nestled in North Portland and features some amazing sunset views that you are definitely going to want to check out. Right now the weather is not the best for a picnic, but on a sunny day, this is the spot to enjoy urban views from a quiet spot and you are not going to want to miss it.

Formally known as Mocks Crest Park, the small stretch of greenspace is most commonly called Skidmore Bluffs, which considering it is on Skidmore and features an enormous bluff, is the most apt name for the location.

At just over 5 acres, this tiny park has no amenities and just a solitary bench.

But you don’t come here for the playground, hiking trails, or sports fields.

The beautiful spot is a gathering place for watching the sunset, and it is one of the best spots around.

On wonderful spring, summer and fall nights crowds gather early and stay late. The sweeping Willamette River and downtown views are enough to keep you coming back.

But even nice fall nights (or even snuggled up winter ones) can be enjoyed here. Just be sure to bring a blanket.

If you do visit the Skidmore Bluffs, keep in mind that you are in a residential neighborhood, and be considerate of neighbors. Pack up any garbage you bring in, keep your dogs on leash, and keep noise levels low.
