West Virginia is filled with trails with many types of terrain winding though woods, fields and mountainsides, but only one will lead you not only horizontally along a path, but vertically as well.
The Endless Wall Trail is located near Lansing in Fayette County. Upon first arrival, this trail may seem like your typical West Virginia hike. But it won’t take long to realize that is not the case.

Soon your hike will cease to move horizontal and begin to move vertical; along the way, several steel ladders will lead you to new levels along the path.

The ladders pass between rock faces that take you to new levels that offer breathtaking views.

These stunning vistas allow a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape as you watch the New River wind its way between the lush hills.

The trail even leads you through tunnels, into caves and past a waterfall, with an opportunity for great views along the way. This is not a physically demanding hike, though there are climbers who you may see rope climbing up the cliff side, so that option is present if you are looking for a challenge.
TripAdvisor/tdngjj This is a great hike for the whole family. Also, though the trail might offer vertical options, these can be bypassed if you wish and the trail will still lead you to some awesome views.
