Dakota City Heritage Village is a five-acre village dating back to 1900. You’ll find it at 4008 220th Street West in Farmington, Minnesota.

Each year, the village decks its 22 buildings out in twinkling lights to celebrate the Christmas season.

Many of the buildings have a fun holiday activity. At the Depot, climb into Santa’s sleigh for a cute Christmas photo op.

The general store, strung with lights, is also an interesting stop.

Inside, you’ll find costumed shopkeepers there to show off all the newest items for sale in 1900.

At the Village Hall, you can write a letter to Santa.

And at the post office, mail your letter off to the North Pole.

Many of the buildings have festive decorations on the inside, too. Christmas trees trimmed with historic ornaments add even more nostalgia to this Christmas village.

When you’ve seen all of the attractions, it’s time for your final activity: a ride on the horse-drawn trolley! It is free with the cost of admission.
