DC has become a trendy foodie city where residents jump at the latest and greatest restaurant opening. Some of the best Chinese food is in a place where many DC residents don’t go. It’s in a small, budget motel in Northeast DC.

Panda Gourmet is hidden on the side of a Days Inn but trust us, when you tell you the food is fantastic.

Finding the restaurant can be tricky. The address is 2700 New York Avenue NE and it’s on the left side of the street. You have to make a U-turn at the sign for the Washington Times building and take the service road back to the restaurant.

Once you do arrive at the restaurant you can park in the parking lot off to the side and enter through the restaurant entrance on the side of the hotel.

Once inside, there usually isn’t too much of a wait for a table.

There’s two menus you can choose from, the Chinese American menu and the Szechuan Chef’s Special menu. If you are in the know, then you can ask for all entirely Chinese secret menu which has a few more items.

The food here is truly authentic Szechuan food. Their Dan Dan noodles are some of the best in the entire district.
