The Cypress Swamp Trail is located on the Natchez Trace Parkway. You’ll find it at milepost 122, north of Jackson.

This pretty little trail is less than a half mile long, and it’s a flat, easy hike. It’s perfect for almost every level of hiker, and great for even small children.

The boardwalk takes you right through the swamp, among bald cypress and tupelo trees. You’ll want to plan about a half hour to make this loop.

These hardy trees took root back before water covered this land; they thrive in the boggy conditions here now. Watch for the occasional alligator hanging out on a log.
