Ahhhh, March. It’s the sweetest month of the year in Vermont. Why? It’s sugaring season, of course! After all, we look forward to this time of the year much like leaf peepers anticipate fall in the Green Mountain State. Now is when the sap is flowing and turned into liquid gold, and you won’t want to miss the VT Maple Open House Weekend in 2018!
Before we begin, take a look at this map for locations of participating sugar houses.

The warm temperatures in Spring enables the maple trees to turn starch into sugar. The sap is made as the tree mixes ground water with the sugar and is mostly crystal clear with containing about 2% sugar.

Don’t miss an opportunity to try Sugar On Snow this season if you haven’t already.
Facebook/Couture’s Maple Shop and B & B The “sugar” of Sugar-on-Snow happens when the maple syrup is heated to 232 degrees and then drizzled on top of snow to eat like a taffy.
We simply love it here!
