Who’s ready for autumn?! In just a few short weeks, Maryland will transform into a colorful state filled with hues of red, orange, and yellow. - Oakland
Facebook / A Great Small Town Oakland is about as far west as you can get in Maryland, offering charming mountain views at every turn. This year will be the 50th annual Autumn Glory Festival from October 11th to October 15th. Or be sure to also visit the nearby Deep Creek Lake or Swallow Falls State Park.
- Oldtown
Flickr / Steve 1828 This historic town on the canal is filled with scenery that becomes even more beautiful during autumn. The Potomac River is also nearby, offering perfectly reflective views.
- Cunningham Falls State Park
Flickr / The Explorographer™ One of Maryland’s most impressive waterfalls is located at this state park in Thurmont. The hiking trails are an absolute dream during fall.
- Seneca Creek State Park

- Billy Goat Trail
Yelp / Sam R What is quite possibly Maryland’s most beautiful hike, Section A at Billy Goat Trail offers rocky views with the Potomac River as the centerpiece. The hike is a bit challenging (especially when the rocks are wet) so use caution.
- Patuxent Research Refuge

- Rocks State Park
Flickr / Dave Harford County is home to the ever-impressive Rocks State Park, mostly known for the King and Queen Seat overlook. Hike to this stunning spot and take in the views from above.
- Susquehanna Falls State Park
Flickr / Nicolas Raymond Waterfront sights are abundant at this park near Havre de Grace. The colorful trees enhance the views, making for an adventure to remember.
- Elk Neck State Park

- Tuckahoe State Park
