With 11 different eco-regions in the Sooner State, the topography is about as diverse as you can get. Even though we don’t have a technical “jungle” hiding away in the state, we do have a few areas that feel like one. There’s a heavily canopied forest in southern Oklahoma that’s full of lush, green scenery and if you take Skyline Trail – an 11.6-mile loop trail in Beavers Bend State Park – you’ll feel like you’ve landed in one of these jungles.

You’ll love all the scenic views along the path. The elevation reaches over 1,900 feet, so you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the surrounding areas when there’s an opening in the trees.

The trail is recommended for experienced hikers, as there are many hills to navigate. Bring a walking stick along because you’ll need it. It’s the perfect hike to take in summer because 90% of the trail is shaded.

There’s also a waterfall on the trail that’s overflowing with beauty.

On top of climbing steep hills and hiking long distances, there’s a river and small creeks that you’ll need to navigate across. Be prepared to get a little wet (one more reason you’ll feel like you’re in a jungle).
