Just because the temperatures are dropping doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the great outdoors. Especially considering the abundance of beautiful hikes that are doable all year round. One example is an easy hike that will take you through the unique marshlands of central Virginia. Here’s more on the picturesque boardwalk loop located at the R. Garland Dodd Park at Point of Rocks.

Located along the Appomattox River, the gorgeous 188-acre park has been attracted nature enthusiasts since it opened in 1980.

The upper levels of the park are dedicated to picnic and athletic facilities and at the lower level, you’ll find a network of easy and enticing trails.

The most unique trail is the gorgeous boardwalk hike that ventures through the marshlands.

Meandering the boardwalk, you’ll have phenomenal views of the surrounding wetlands, Ashton Creek, and the nearby Appomattox.
