Passport Fees Are Going Up Sooner Than You Think So Get Yours Now

If you weren’t already aware, in 2018 there will be new regulations set in place that will make it so certain states will need more than just a license in order to travel by plane. For this reason, many Americans were already planning on obtaining a passport for themselves this year. The cost of the passport itself isn’t what’s going up; the increased fee will go toward the actual acceptance of the application. Places like the post office, libraries and clerks of court that offer passport application acceptance will benefit from the new increased fee, encouraging these establishments to continue processing applications in the future.

After the new change goes into effect, the cost of an Adult passport book will be $145 dollars, with an adult passport card costing $65 dollars. As for children’s passports, the book will now cost $115 dollars and the card will cost $50 dollars. Anyone in the future who decides to renew their passport by mail won’t be affected or charged the extra fee.
