If it’s one thing coastal states have over ones in the middle of the country, it’s the really great seafood. That is unless you’re talking about Wyoming. The Cowboy State may be over 1,100 miles from the nearest ocean and surrounded by land on all sides, but we happen to have one of the best seafood restaurants in the nation. Not only was it listed as one worth traveling for, but many Wyomingites will gladly make the journey through a snowstorm for the ocean delights served up at Rocky Mountain Seafood.

Rocky Mountain Seafood is at 492 South Washington Street in Afton.

The interior recalls a charming warf-side seafood market somewhere on an oceanic coast. There’s even fresh seafood displayed in the case up front.

The menu is heavenly and has been known to entice people to drive long distances even in bad weather. They have everything from appetizers to full meals. The Santa Barbara oyster shooters are a tasty way to get a meal started.

Or, try the garlicy, cheesy shrimp bread. There’s nothing like it!

Naturally, a seafood restaurant in Wyoming should serve salmon, and Rocky Mountain Seafood does. However, the menu of other types of fish and seafood is extensive.

Plus, there’s even a “turf” menu, so fish-haters can enjoy a delicious meal with their seafood-loving friends.
