I’m a big fan of finding restaurants that are new and different. I like themed eateries, stunning interiors, and mouthwatering meals. Lucky for me (and all of us), New Jersey is packed with one-of-a-kind culinary gems, and I discover new options all the time. A while back, I wrote about a restaurant called McDonagh’s Pub and their spectacular Bloody Mary. Just steps away is another fantastic pick, and it’s perhaps the most patriotic restaurant in New Jersey.
Old Glory Kitchen & Spirits is striking from the second you see it.

Housed in an old church building, the wooden exterior is a wonderful touch. Warm and inviting, it gives the building something of a tavern feel.

There are several dining areas for patrons to enjoy including a deck and patio, perfect for warmer weather. The building also features a giant garage door to bring the breeze in on days when it would be welcome.

The second I walked in, I was awestruck. The entire ceiling is painted with the Betsy Ross American Flag - it’s almost impossible not to look up.

The space is so open and honestly quite enchanting. It felt almost like I was in a castle.

I really loved this flag, found in the stairwell on my way down to the lounge.

The dimly lit downstairs bar & lounge is only open on weekends, and it’s a great place to catch the game. Note the flag embroidered chair!

The main bar upstairs has local memorabilia under the glass…a nice touch.

Though they’ve got plenty more than pizza. Expect friendly service (our server was excellent) and a mouthwatering menu.

And the desserts are divine…I was so happy they had chocolate ice cream available - a major plus.

If you’re a fan of fair food, try the fried Twinkie sundae - so good!

To top it all off, they’ve got a full bar and one of the largest beer selections in the area.

While definitely patriotic, Old Glory Kitchen & Spirits is so much more than a few stars and stripes. The atmosphere and service were top notch, the staff was knowledgeable, and the food was fantastic. My meal here was a delight and I will definitely be making the drive back. You’ll find this restaurant at 84 Broad Street in Keyport, open Monday-Sunday from 11:30 a.m. – 2 a.m.. If you’re currently in the military, a veteran, or a first responder, you can enjoy a 10% discount as a thank you for your service.
