Who doesn’t love a classic diner? There’s something about sitting down at one of those padded stools and ordering up a plate of bacon and eggs that is so incredibly nostalgic and comforting. There are plenty of fantastic old-school diners in Rhode Island, but did you know that here in the Ocean State we actually have a diner on the National Register of Historic Places?

Modern Diner is one of only two Sterling Streamliner diners still operating in the world. It was opened in 1940 at 13 Dexter Street in Pawtucket, and was moved to its current location in 1984.
