Jails aren’t exactly known for their tasty food — and certainly not for their cocktails. But you might not know that one tasty and popular Concord restaurant was once a jail — and to this day you can still eat inside the cells! This is decidedly not your average Mexican restaurant experience.
The Concord location of popular New England restaurant chain Margaritas was the Concord Police Headquarters and Jail from 1890 to 1975, and for all those years, it played host to criminals thrown in jail for a night or longer.

Creepy as that sounds, they’re actually rather cozy, and perfect for a date or for a small group.

Just know that you might not have as much privacy as you think — legend has it that the restaurant is haunted by an old prisoner the staff refers to as George. Servers and customers alike have seen him move glasses and chairs — but he seems like a friendly trickster.

Though the setting steals the spotlight, the food here is darn tasty, too. Like the other locations in New England, this Margaritas serves up some seriously delicious food.
