There are many wonderful things about the Great North Woods, but most of us don’t think of the region as the place to go for European delicacies. It’s time to question that assumption – as it turns out, you can get perfectly authentic and scrumptious French pastries all the way up in Colebrook. Better yet, the bakery has a heartwarming story that makes its treats all the sweeter.

Bakery owners Marc Ounis and Verlaine Daeron fell in love with Colebrook on a trip to New England in 2001, and came back the following year to open a bakery in the small town, which quickly became a community favorite and a beloved gathering place.

Le Rendez Vous

The bakery nearly closed in 2009 due to a visa renewal issue, but the people of Colebrook banded together to support the bakery and sent dozens of letters to the US Embassy in France – and lucky for Colebrook, they were successful in saving the bakery.
