Fall is a spectacular time of year all throughout Texas, but this place in particular is definitely up there on the list in terms of scenery. There’s no view quite like that of vibrant yellow, red, and orange leaves reflecting on a body of water. Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in Pittsburg undoubtedly belongs on your autumn bucket list for this year.
The park has five trails ranging in length from a mere .29 miles to 1.57 miles. They’re all easy in difficulty aside from Brim Pond Trail, which is moderate.

Dogwood Trail, the longest hike in the park, is your best bet for seeing fall foliage. It leads you through a forest to Trout Pond, which is surrounded by trees bursting with vibrant autumn colors.

If you’re short on time, you can take a shortcut of sorts and hike the Dogwood Cutoff Trail, which takes you straight to the pond. It’s only .32 miles and should take no more than 20 minutes!

Mid-October is your best bet for seeing the most spectacular scenery. It would probably be a good idea to call ahead before making the trip, though, since there’s no fall foliage report accessible online.
