The building that houses the Jailhouse Cafe has been long known by locals as “The Jailhouse,” even before the cafe opened.

In 1892, it became the County Courthouse, and one little room, which is now part of the cafe’s kitchen, was used as a jail cell. After a decade, the building went through many other uses before it was purchased by the current owners in 1992 and restored into the charming cafe it is now.
The small building next door, and the courtyard in-between serve as outdoor seating in warm weather.
