Although it’s still sunny and warm here in Columbus, fall is coming very soon. Fall will bring with its beautiful colors, a great time to enjoy all the scenic parks around Columbus, and lots of wonderful photo opportunities. Whether you plan to go for a hike or hire a photographer for that perfect fall family photo, make sure you time it right. The folks at Smoky Mountains have released their annual fall foliage map; here are their predictions:
Starting September 24th, we will start to see partial change in the fall colors.
Smoky Mountains Some trees will still be green, while other will be making their way towards incredible amber and orange tones. Some people love the mix of green with the hint of autumn, so don’t miss this week for your autumn adventures.
By October 1st, Columbus will be near the peak of the best fall foliage colors.
Smoky Mountains You might be tempted to wait another week, but be careful. While this map is a fantastic resource, it can’t be 100% accurate. Don’t put it off and miss your chance to see the gorgeous colors.
The real peak will happen around October 8th.
Smoky Mountains Autumns tend to not last long in Columbus, so once we’re past the peak, it will start looking more like winter. By October 15th Columbus will be past the peak.
If you’re wondering where to enjoy these beautiful fall colors, Alum Creek State Park is always a good choice.
