Kentucky’s many lakes are popular in the summer, but they definitely shouldn’t be ignored in the fall. During this season, when our state’s beautiful landscape becomes painted with vibrant color, our lakes are the perfect backdrop to take it all in. One particular lake within the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is simply breathtaking in the fall. The Hematite Lake Trail is a moderate hike that’s a delightful way to spend an autumn day.

Within the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, you’ll find more than 500 miles of trails and 200 miles of scenic roads that show off the natural beauty of Kentucky.
