A wistful affection for the past is perhaps most felt while amongst vintage items and antiques. And while antique shops can be hard to come by in Hawaii, there is one little town that is an antique lover’s paradise. Located just 10 miles south of Kailua-Kona on Hawaii Island’s sunny Kona Coast is Kealakekua, a tiny little town that’s home to plenty of charm and a handful of phenomenal antique shops.
With a population of approximately 2,000, this census-designated place in Hawaii is famous for one thing: it’s namesake bay, a picturesque beach with crystalline turquoise waters and epic snorkeling where dolphins frolic off the coast. And while Kealakekua Bay deserves all the recognition it receives, there is one other spot reason to put Kealakekua on your bucket list: the incredible antique stores found within its borders.
