Seeking a quiet day trip away from the city? Well, if you’ve got a boat (or are a really strong kayaker), then consider heading to the nearby Hart-Miller Island. This unique spot is so close yet somewhat remote, providing a day of peace, scenery, and amazing water views. If you’ve never been here before, put it on your to-do list!
Hart-Miller Island is a Maryland state park that’s technically located in Essex. It’s only reachable by boat but the journey is worth it.

Most boaters head to this area for a day of fishing or for some good old-fashioned fun in the sun. There’s a 3,000-foot sandy beach where you can kick back and relax.

If you love wildlife, then bring your binoculars. This is a great place for bird watching and you’ll likely spot heron, osprey, and more.
