We love to write about Utah’s picturesque small towns. Some of them are surrounded by Utah’s most incredible scenery (hello, Kanab). Others offer rural beauty and tons of recreation opportunities (we love Huntsville). Many of Utah’s small towns don’t have much to offer when it comes to dining, but here’s a tiny town that has quite a few great options, especially when you’re looking for hometown, hole-in-the-wall spots that serve up plates piled high with homemade food. Visit Green River, and you’ll see what we mean.
The tiny town of Green River has fewer than 1,000 residents, but it has some of the best hole-in-the-wall places to eat in the Beehive State. Here are a few of the places you’ll find around town.
Chow Hound (18 E. Main Street)
Ginger M./Yelp
Every small town needs a place like Chow Hound. It serves up tasty burgers, fries, tots and pizza.

You’ll definitely want to order a thick shake while you’re here, too.

Tamarisk Restaurant (1710 E. Main Street)
Mmmm…diner food! When you’re looking for a great spot for a hearty breakfast, this is it. An added bonus: tableside views of the Green River.
Tamarisk
The cinnamon rolls are as big as your head, and they’re worth every single calorie.

Tacos La Pasadita (215 E. Main Street)
Stephanie B./Yelp
Tacos La Pasadita wins the award for quirkiest restaurant ever. This little hole-in-the-wall taco place is located at an old gas station. Order from the taco cart parked under the awning, then dine outside, or indoors.
Rita B./Yelp
You probably won’t find tastier, more authentic tacos in all of Utah. One bite of these morsels, and you’ll wish you lived closer to Green River so you could eat them every day.

Ray’s Tavern (25 S. Broadway)
Todd W./Yelp
Ray’s Tavern is known all over the state as, “The Place for Everyone.” You’ll often find a line of bikes outside, and inside you’ll find the friendliest people you’ve ever met (and the best cheeseburger for miles).
Niki B./Yelp
The steak dinners are tasty, too.
Marichelle M./Yelp
Green River is located on the far east side of the state, along I-70.
