What do you think of when you think about fall? Corn mazes? Pumpkin spice? Apple cider? All of those things are nice, but autumn means only one thing here in Texas: Oktoberfest. There are several throughout the state, but the most well known celebration takes place in Fredericksburg in early October. It may not be traditional, but there’s no other way we’d rather ring in the season.

Oktoberfest is the reason for the reason in Fredericksburg! The annual German festival is a weekend-long celebration full of beer, food, dancing, and more.

Bands will be playing all three days on the main stage, and there’s a special tuba concert just inside the front gates at 5:45 on Friday.

The drink selection is enormous. You’ll find everything from local Texas brews to German imports and everything in between.

As far as food, there’s every kind of sausage you could possibly think of, schnitzel, and other German delicacies as well as normal stuff like gumbo and BBQ sandwiches.

Oktoberfest will take place from 6pm to midnight on October 6, 10am to midnight on October 7, and 11am to 6pm on October 8.
