However, that’s exactly how Mississippi Today described the tiny town of Flora. In addition to a one-of-a-kind butcher shop, the food-centric community features several renowned restaurants. When it comes to small towns, it doesn’t get much smaller than Flora. The tiny town has less than 2,000 residents!

But don’t let its size fool you; Flora has a lot to offer. Its Main Street, which is home to several specialty shops and restaurants, is one of its biggest draws.

Opened in the summer of 2016, The Flora Butcher Shop is one of the most recent additions to Main Street.

The “old world style” butcher shop specializes in local animals, local artisan products, and Wagyu beef, which is known for its “tender and juicy quality.”

During lunch, The Flora Butcher Shop offers blue plate specials. The lunches vary from day to day, but in the past, have included tasty options, like meatloaf and sandwiches.

A longtime favorite, Bill’s Creole and Steak Depot serves up a mouthwatering fare in laidback digs, making it a great place for the entire family.

On the menu, you’ll find everything from steaks and seafood to Creole-inspired dishes, such as crawfish etouffee, gumbo, and red beans and rice. And according to customers, it’s all served with a side of true southern hospitality.

If it’s a burger you’re craving, a visit to The Blue Rooster is a must. Within a decade of being opened, the eatery has won numerous awards and topped countless “best burger” lists.

Far from your typical burgers, the burgers at The Blue Rooster come topped with everything from standards, like cheese and bacon, to not-so-standards, like sirloin steak and ranch dressing.
