Every single day in Kentucky, someone, somewhere, is arguing over the best place in our state to get a hamburger. With countless diners and dives, a juicy hamburger is fairly easy to come by in the Bluegrass State. But recently at the Kentucky State Fair, the winners were announced of Kentucky Living’s Best in Kentucky Awards and Kentuckians have spoken. If you want the best hamburger around, head to Hopkinsville and the iconic diner on Main Street – Ferrell’s.

In a state with amazing food from corner to corner, it’s a pretty big honor to be named “the best.”

This tiny diner is nostalgic and simple. The only expectation you should have when visiting is to enjoy the most unbelievable burger ever.

Yelp/Mike W. There are only a few bar stools in this small space, and there are usually a steady stream of locals and visitors, stopping in to get their Ferrell’s fix.

The secret to these burgers seems to be the fresh meat and made-to-order status.

TripAdvisor/Mona W. The burgers are the perfect combination of juicy, crispy, and flavorful. They’re not huge, so you should definitely consider ordering a double or even two. You can’t beat the price, so don’t worry too much about racking up a big bill.

The menu is short and sweet at Ferrell’s, because it can be.

TripAdvisor/Robbie H. They do serve breakfast, as well as delicious chili, hot dogs and grilled cheese.

Ferrell’s also has locations in Cadiz and Madisonville, but it’s the legendary Hopkinsville dive that was awarded this honor.

Yelp/Mike W. So if you’re skeptical of the winner of this year’s “Best Hamburger Award,” then it seems only right that you head to Hopkinsville and try one for yourself. But be forewarned - you are probably going to love it, and you’re also going to leave smelling like the delicious burger you just inhaled.
