For 67 years, Ennis has been the bluebonnet hub of Texas. Starting around April 1, our state flower lines the highways and extends out into grassy fields as far as the eye can see. It’s become such a popular tourist attraction that the town has capitalized on it and created a Bluebonnet Festival complete with tour guides, photography tips, and even an app with maps of all the trails. This is truly a can’t-miss, unforgettable experience for the whole family.
Home to more than 40 miles of trails lined with bluebonnets, Ennis has been named the “Official Bluebonnet City of Texas.” Thousands of visitors flock to the town each spring to experience the breathtaking beauty for themselves.

The Ennis Garden Club, who sponsors the whole spectacle, checks the bloom status of the flowers on all the trails each week during April. They then report their findings to the Visitors Bureau so that people know exactly where the best views are located.
