About 20 miles from the Oregon border is the lively community of Crescent City. It’s named after the crescent-shaped region of sandy beach located just south of the city. If you’re a sand dollar hunter, this is where you’ll find them!

This is one of the most pristine beaches you’ll find in Northern California. It’s characterized by sandy white shores and is a wonderful destination year-round. The shore stretches for three miles and offers plenty of opportunities for exploration.

These gorgeous little artifacts make for awesome souvenirs. However, keep in mind that taking live sand dollars is threatening to the species. Make sure any sand dollars you pick up are just skeletons. Live sand dollars are a dark color, and skeletons are white.
