wikimedia According to a 24/7 WallStreet recent ranking of the top places to live in America, Carmel, Indiana reached the coveted #1 spot as the most liveable place in the country. Carmel’s won many #1 awards in recent years and here’s why the city topped this new list.

Wages are high and cost of living is low

You can rent a decent two bedroom apartment for a little over $800, a deluxe two bedroom condo for around $1,000, and a three bedroom with pool access for just over $1,200. Coupled with the fact that the typical household here earns $113k+, you can see why this area is thriving.

The crime rate is low

The national average for crimes per 100,000 residents is 386 violent crimes and 2,451 property crimes per year. Carmel reports just 28 violent crimes and 887 property crimes annually, well below this average.
