Spring Green is one of the most underrated and overlooked parts of the state. Folks pass through as they head to Taliesin and might even stay for a play by the American Players Theater, but really there’s so much to see and do in this quaint and quirky little artistic town. Despite being an easy drive from Madison, something about Spring Green feels a little wild and remote and heading here feels like a trip far, far away from a busy city reality.
If you take the time to look past the bits that are there for the tourists, you’ll find a wonderful community chock full of hidden gems.
Arcadia Books is exactly the sort of bookstore you’d expect to find in quirky, artsy and wonderful Spring Green. The home of Taliesin and the American Players Theater is a bit of an arts haven and Arcadia nourishes that same creativity and love of learning.

And the on-site kitchen allows them to do awesome “cook the book” events and really enhance author visits or book discussions.

One of my favorite parts is this old school phone that invites you to listen to folks talk about their favorite book.

Even the little ones love Arcadia. There’s something wonderful about seeing children settle in with a good old-fashioned book as you get to watch their imaginations run wild.
